From 1967 to 1973, the Holm family lived in Antigonish, where Flemming served as the United Church Minister. In 1973 he took a job with the provincial Human Rights Commission and they moved to Sydney. Their marriage fell apart, however, and June pursued her studies, continued to raise her kids and took what employment she could find. It was a challenging time raising a bunch of teenagers.
